My Story
It must have been summer, as even with the curtains drawn, the room was half-lit in gold.
I was supposed to be falling asleep, but I decided to get up and move. What drew me wasn’t any kind of thought, but a strong feeling of wanting dance. Dance often implies performance, but I didn’t want an audience, it was about what it felt like to move freely and without judgement.
Not long after this point I entered teenagerhood, and became more self-critical and body-conscious. Now as an adult, I’ve been finding my way back to feeling ‘at home’ in my body, using dance, somatic exploration, embodiment and creative tools.
I’ve discovered, that when we connect with our internal sensations in this way, we become agents of a creative, full-bodied experience. This can shift our mood, help us connect with others and improve our health and mental wellbeing.
I now create safe spaces for others to experience this for themselves by facilitating Dance for Wellbeing workshops; and Wellbeing Coaching. I also include body-based (somatic) work and movement in my practice as a Creative Psychotherapist.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to know more. I look forward to hearing from you.
